At Parkside, we believe all children should learn the skills and knowledge to enable them to be responsible, digital citizens.
Living with technology
Technology is everywhere and will play a pivotal part in our pupils' lives. Therefore, we want to model and educate our pupils on how to use technology positively and safely.
Of course, the majority of any child’s online activity takes place outside of the school building. Therefore, the role of home in helping children to stay safe online is critical. The following resources provide parents and carers of Parkside children with a wide range of useful information.
As part of our computing and PSHE curriculums we teach the children how to act safely and responsibly online. More information on this can be found by looking at the relevant curriculum pages. We also supplement this learning with termly online safety themes.
Be Internet Legends
At Parkside we use the ‘Be Internet Legends’ programme throughout the year. Each term, apart from the spring term (when we focus upon that year’s internet safety day’s national theme), we focus school-wide learning on one of the five be internet legends pillars:
Think Before You Share: Be Internet Sharp
Check it’s For Real: Be Internet Alert
Protect Your Stuff: Be Internet Secure
Respect Each Other: Be Internet Kind
When in Doubt, Discuss: Be Internet Brave
Online safety for parents
Online gaming is an ever-increasing aspect of children’s online activity. In this respect, you might also find the linked information below useful. These guides provide useful and practical advice to help parents and carers keep their children safe online.
