Enrichment

Children's learning at Parkside goes well beyond the National Curriculum. In addition to our farm and forest school sessions, we are also committed to providing our children inspirational opportunities in as many areas as we can. Here is a snapshot of experiences which are on offer at Parkside.

Creative Arts

In addition to weekly music lessons in class, children can access 1:1 or small group tuition in a variety of musical instruments. East Sussex Music Service (ADD LINK) and Red Butler Music (LINK) are two providers who offer teaching of piano, drums, violins.

We take some of our older children to the National Young Voices concert at the O2 Arena every year - the biggest children's concert in the United Kingdom.

All year groups participate in drama productions across the year. Traditionally our younger children perform a Christmas Nativity, the younger Key Stage 2 children perform a production in the Spring term and our Year 5's and 6's have the end of year final play.

We also celebrate the artistic side of our children and set up an Art Gallery evening for family members.

Experiences outside of the classroom

Every year group accesses offsite educational trips throughout their time at Parkside. We have use of Heathfield Community College's minibus, and our own, which makes organising trips much easier. Recently we have been to the Sealife Centre, Kent Life, London Musuems, Ashdown Forest and in Year 5 children go on week long residential to a dry docked boat on the Essex Estuary.

Visitors and experiences are also organised for children to access within school. These range from First Aid Training, Fencing workshops, Bikeability, local community groups, and even a Dinosaur workshop!

Community activities

We are always looking to ensure we are at the heart of our Community. We run fundraising events to include local families, host and take part in shared events with other local schools, and invite local community groups to take part in joint activities with our children.
