Hi, my name is Natalie Sherlock and I am one of the Year 5 teachers at Parkside. I have been at Parkside since 2019 and I love it - there are always so many fantastic opportunities to get involved in. It is amazing to see how the children change and grow during Year 5 as they become more established in key stage 2. I love being able to teach all subjects, we get to learn about such a range of things and every day is so different!
Over the year we learn about so many fun things: the Shang Dynasty, Earth and Space, farming, the Greeks, Forces and Mechanisms, and properties and changes of materials to name a few . We also go swimming, take part in forest school, some children choose to take part in Young Voices at the 02 and we have an incredible residential trip to Fellowship Afloat. Year 5 is a fantastic year and we have so much fun!

I’m Val Joy. I teach Year 5 from Wednesday after lunch until the end of the week.
I have taught at Parkside for over 15 years. I especially love enabling our children to learn outdoors in our amazing grounds.
I help to run the farm. Year 5 children help daily with that.
As well as those learning opportunities which Miss Sherlock has mentioned, we learn to play descant recorder and glockenspiel, listen to a range of music genres, find out about what people believe and consider our own beliefs.
Year 5 is a fun- packed class!
