Curriculum & Learning
We believe that all children who attend Parkside Primary and Preschool deserve every opportunity to succeed. Our vision is for Parkside to continue to be an exceptional place to learn.
The Parkside Curriculum
Here at Parkside, we provide a broad and balanced curriculum offer based around a range of recognised curriculum programmes. Our Early Years children follow the EYFS statutory Framework and the Birth to Five Matters guidance. Children from Years R-6 access the curriculum through a range of programmes including, White Rose Maths, The Write Stuff English, Twinkl Phonics, Kapow Primary (French and Music), Discovery Education (PSHE), Real PE and Teach Computing.
For many of our foundation subjects (Art, Design and Technology, Science, History and Geography) our curriculum is based upon the Cornerstones Curriculum, a nationally recognised approach for delivering outstanding learning opportunities for children.
We believe children learn better when they are encouraged to use their imagination and apply their learning to engaging contexts. Our curriculum provides many learning challenges throughout the academic year that require children to solve problems, apply themselves creatively and express their knowledge and understanding effectively. Our curriculum also provide a rigorous skills and knowledge framework that outlines the end of year expectations in all subjects. These skills and knowledge are tied to activities and are age-related so that staff can track children’s progress and identify their individual learning needs.
More detailed information about the Parkside curriculum can be found on the individual subject pages and through your child's class teacher.
If remote learning provision was to be required, we use Google Classroom and Tapestry as our virtual platforms.
